Is This Your Time?

Esther 4:14: “And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?”

Esther and her cousin, Mordecai, along with many other Jews who had been scattered due to persecution, lived in Susa, the capital of Persia.  Mordecai became a government official and looked out for the interests of King Xerxes.   The King became displeased with his wife, Queen Vashti, who would not succumb to his selfish demands.  So he began the search for a new queen.  He became infatuated with Esther and made her his wife.  Unbeknownst to the King, Esther was a Jew but for the moment had chosen to keep her ancestry a secret.  In the meantime, Haman, an evil and despicable man, who was second in command to the King, devised a plan to rid the nation of all Jews.  Mordecai had fueled his rage by refusing to bow down to Haman.  If this disobedient Jew would not follow his demands, he was determined to kill not only Mordecai, but all Jews.

Mordecai informed Esther of Haman’s evil plan and told her that it was now time for her to reveal that she was a Jew.  The King adored his new wife and Mordecai felt that he would listen to Esther’s plea on behalf of her people.  He was right!!!!!  Through a series of meetings (which were actually banquets!), Esther persuaded the King to issue an edict throughout the province that the Jews were to be protected and, in addition, that they could kill those who sought to harm them.  The King also learned of Haman’s evil plan to eradicate the Jewish population, and he was subsequently hung on the gallows.  Good Riddance!!!!  The Jews then rejoiced that they were free to live their lives in peace!

What position do you find yourself in, right now?  Is it a good place, or have you been placed in a challenging situation, like Queen Esther?  The first thing we all need to realize is that where we are, right now, is not due to chance, but to the sovereign design of God.  Psalm 115:3 states:  “Our God  is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases”.

What might God be calling you to do?  How might he be asking you to STEP OUT and to STEP IN to His purpose for your life?  Let us not shrink back from doing what He is wanting us to do, right now, “for such a time as this”!

Jeremiah 1:5 states:  “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”.

To what has He appointed YOU?

Blessings,
