Unchained Thoughts

Protect your territory!

Imagine a world where you walk down the street with a pep in your step, a smile on your face while the warmth of the sun and the breeze of air inspires a sense of refreshment and soul cleansing newness. Imagine a place where as you walked by people smiled back at you, waved, and really meant it when they said “good-day”.

If, as you read this, your first response was “Ya right, like that, will ever happen”. Then you most likely can relate to countless others who realize that life just isn’t that simple.

Life can be crazy, fast-paced, and just when we feel like we are walking to the beat of our drum, change happens almost instantly and forces us to react quickly. Change usually sends us right into fight or flight mode. Immediately we must be on the defense prepared to protect our territories in any way necessary.

Protecting our territories at all cost can do just that – cost us. We pay the price in our relationships, in our homes, in our careers, in our bodies, and on and on. But what if this fight or flight mentality was stopping you from walking into the abundant life that God has called you to? What if the option to defend was meant to start with your mind?

Romans 12:2 says “Be not conformed to the ways of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”.

Our minds are the first territory we must reclaim and defend at all costs. That means we must renew our thinking patterns daily.

This begins with a self-assessment, what thinking patterns are you believing that are causing you to withdraw from an abundant life and walk with your head down? Make the decision to break an agreement with these thoughts and begin to renew your mind with the word of God. Proverbs 3:8 says “this will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones”.

Renewing your mind with Biblical principles brings life to your mind, to your body, and to your soul. So that no matter what is changing around you, you can stand firm on the unchanging word of God and keep your mind protected from the outside world.

Take time right now to self-assess, break agreement with the lies, and replace your limiting belief with a biblical principle that instills hope for a future with Christ

“He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4
